The restaurant has been refurbished inside and out with the new design, called “Inspire.” The new design includes an inviting color palette that ties to the Brand colors using updated, fresh materials, subway tiling and stainless steel in the kitchen area, multicolor wood materials, modern lighting and chalkboard graphics. Exterior enhancements include: cantilevered red awnings at the primary touch points, new signage, wood tones, white brick, enhanced lighting for strong visual impact at night and upgraded landscaping around the restaurant.
Chris Smith, one of the owners of Arbico East, the Tri-Cities franchise, said, “We are thrilled with this new restaurant design. It is the fourth renovated Arby’s in the Tri-Cities in recent years. We believe strongly in Arby’s and the Tri-Cities ongoing support of it!” Jeff Shawl, co-owner, added, “The Sullivan Gardens Parkway Arby’s has been a part of our community for many years and will continue to serve Kingsport for many years to come. In the coming months and years, our Company intends to further invest in Arby’s in our area. Tri-Cities, TN/VA. (March 6, 2021) -- Over the last several months, Arbico has had the opportunity to raise funds for many great local organizations. Our efforts were recognized by the Arby’s Foundation: Arbico was named a Foundation Franchisee award winner for our recent philanthropy work, alongside just 27 Arby’s franchisees system-wide. We're honored to receive this award and to assist the many worthy non-profits in our community.
Nearly $70,000 Raised
At the end of 2020, Arbico had a big hand in securing nearly $70,000 for local children’s charities. Our fall Make A Difference Campaign raised $30,367; in October, the Arby’s Foundation’s Fundraising Champion, Chanelle Whitaker (Jonesborough), saw that a $10,000 grant from the Foundation went to Second Harvest Food Bank, a donation Arbico matched, bringing the total to $20,000; and in December, our fundraising campaign for Bristol Motor Speedway Children’s Charities raised $19,203.
Niswonger Children’s Hospital
On March 2, Arbico also held a fundraiser for Niswonger Children’s Hospital, raising $2,900. That is $650 more than last year. Since 2016, we’ve proudly raised almost $14,000 for Niswonger.
Thank you to the Arby's Foundation for the Foundation Franchisee award, and to our generous guests for partnering with us in assisting children in our community.
Johnson City, TN. (January 21, 2021) — We are once again thrilled to support Bristol Motor Speedway Children's Charities this year in their annual fundraising efforts. Throughout December, Arbico East, which operates 13 Arby's in the Tri-Cities, asked our guests to donate a dollar to support BMS Children's Charities. Thanks to our guests' generosity, we were able to raise $19,203 during the fundraiser—over $6,000 dollars more than we raised last year.
The check presentation, shown above, was held today at the Arby's on South Roan Street in Johnson City, TN.
The funds given to Speedway Children's Charities' Bristol chapter stay local, directly benefitting the Tri-Cities community. The Bristol chapter helps fund local organizations such as Niswonger Children’s Hospital, YWCA Bristol, Southern Appalachian Ronald McDonald House, Small Miracles Equestrian Center, Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee, and many more.

Arby’s Foundation Fundraising Champion Secures $20,000 for Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee
Jonesborough, TN (November 3, 2020) — Last month, the Arby’s Foundation proudly hit a major milestone in their history—$100 million in grants given. A primary fundraising mechanism for the Foundation is the Make a Difference Campaign, a yearly in-restaurant fundraiser during which guests can donate $1 to support key youth-serving organizations, like Big Brothers Big Sisters, No Kid Hungry, and Junior Achievement. This year, the Foundation will grant more than $6 million to national and local youth-serving organizations across the country.
Arbico East, which operates Arby’s in the Tri-Cities, Tenn. and Va., is proud to say that one of our team members, Chanelle Whitaker, had a hand in helping the Foundation reach this $100 million milestone.
Coming off the heels of one of the most successful in-restaurant fundraisers to-date, the Foundation wanted to recognize a local restaurant team member who had a huge impact on their local fundraising efforts to officially take the Foundation to the $100 million finish line. The Foundation selected Chanelle Whitaker from Arbico’s Jonesborough, Tenn., Arby’s location. A true fundraising champion, Chanelle motivated her entire crew to raise funds as part of the Make a Difference Campaign, increasing her store’s donations year-over-year by more than 500%. In honor of this incredible accomplishment, Chanelle was given the honor of selecting a local youth-serving organization to provide a $10,000 grant on behalf of the Arby’s Foundation, officially bringing the Foundation to the $100 million mark.
Chanelle chose to grant the funds to Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee, a local food bank who has seen record demand from the community amid the pandemic.
“This year alone, Second Harvest has provided tens of millions of pounds of food and served people who never imagined they would need assistance to feed their kids,” said Second Harvest’s Executive Director, Rhonda Chafin.
Arbico East, a longtime supporter of Second Harvest Food Bank, proudly matched the Arby’s Foundation’s $10,000 donation, bringing the total donation to $20,000.
In response to the celebration, Chanelle shared the following:
We're so proud to have Chanelle on the Arbico team. Her generosity and enthusiasm for giving set an example for future fundraising campaigns.
Thank you to Chanelle, the Arby's Foundation, Second Harvest Food Bank, and our generous guests for making this donation possible!
Tri-Cities, TN/VA (June 5, 2020) — In April, the Arby’s Foundation launched a COVID-19 local grants initiative to address the immediate needs communities are facing around childhood hunger.
Arby's of the Tri-Cities received $2,200 to be put toward a local initiative aiding the community during this time. We nominated the United Ways of Northeast Tennessee to receive the grant. The grant money will be used to bolster their COVID-19 Relief Fund. United Ways chapters across the Tri-Cities set up the COVID-19 Relief Fund for vulnerable populations.
From netnswva.org: The Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia Relief Fund is used to support community organizations who are working to meet the needs of individuals affected by COVID-19 in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. Both immediate and long-term, these efforts will focus response efforts on vulnerable populations, including children, families, and the ALICE population. ALICE, an acronym coined by United Way that stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed, represents men, women, and families who work hard and earn more than the official Federal Poverty Level, but less than the basic cost of living.
We at Arbico are proud to support the efforts of our local United Ways as they help those who need it most.
Johnson City, TN. (March 6, 2020) --On Tuesday, February 18, Arbico East (Arby's of the Tri-Cities) again participated in the fundraiser for Niswonger Children’s Hospital’s annual Radiothon event. WTFM was on location at our Colonial Heights location from 11 a.m. to to 1 p.m. promoting the fundraiser.
As a part of the event, Arbico was able to raise $2,250 for Niswonger. In 2019, we raised the same amount, and over the last 5 years, we’ve raised more than $13,000 for Niswonger as a result of this fundraiser.
Niswonger serves over 200,000 children in a four-state, 29-county region. The children’s hospital is a regional god-send for many families in our area whose children need specialized treatment. It allows them to receive high-quality care without the added stress of traveling. We couldn’t be more happy to support them.
The check was presented during the hospital’s annual Radiothon on Friday, March 6th.
Tri-Cities, TN/VA. (January 31, 2020) — Tri-Cities area Arby’s® restaurants are excited to host again this year an annual fundraiser for the Niswonger Children’s Hospital in Johnson City, TN. Visit a participating Arby’s restaurant in the Tri-Cities on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 and a portion of your purchase will be donated to the Niswonger Children’s Hospital Radiothon.
Our team is thrilled to be able to help raise money for the area’s Children’s Hospital, which serves more than 200,000 children in a four-state, 29-county region.
