Bristol, Tenn. (February 26, 2019) — TriCities Arby’s restaurants today announced a combined donation of $23,963 to local charities in 2019. The recipients include four local charities that support youth initiatives in the TriCities area, including: Bristol Motor Speedway Children’s Charities, Feeding America Southwest Virginia, Second Harvest Food Bank, and Niswonger Children’s Hospital.
In January, Arbico East (parent company of the TriCities Arby’s) donated $11,713 to Bristol Motor Speedway Children’s Charities. The gift came from $1 donations by guests during a December fundraiser for the local non-profit, which helps fund organizations like Big Brothers/Big Sisters of East TN, CASA, Children's Advocacy Centers, Coalition for Kids, Niswonger Children’s Hospital, and many more.
This month, Arby’s Foundation, the independent charitable arm of Arby’s selected Arbico East to receive an additional $10,000 grant awarded to local food banks focused on children’s programs. Arby’s Foundation selected Arbico East for one of its grants thanks to the TriCities restaurant fundraising endeavors. The Arby’s Foundation also awarded $7,000 to Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee, where Arbico has 10 locations, and an additional $3,000 to Feeding America of Southwest Virginia, where Arbico has 2 locations.
Arbico also participated in the Niswonger Radiothon Fundraiser on February 19th, donating a percentage of the day’s sales to Niswonger Children’s Hospital in Johnson City. WTFM broadcasted the event onsite at the newly renovated Arby’s on East Stone Drive in Kingsport. Arby’s of the TriCities donated $2,250 to Niswonger Children’s Hospital as a result of the fundraiser.

Johnson City, TN. (October 27, 2018) — Arbico East volunteered at Coalition for Kids in Johnson City, TN, on Saturday, October 27, helping with upkeep on the non-profit's facilities. Arbico took on the volunteer project in recognition of Make A Difference Day, a national day of service supported in part by the Arby's foundation.
Coalition for Kids is a non-profit dedicated to helping children in need, both the economically impoverished and the domestically abused or neglected. It provides after-school tutoring, preventative programs for violence and substance abuse, free snacks, and free dinner to the hundreds of kids it serves throughout the week. The non-profit offers all of its services free of charge, relying heavily upon charitable donations and volunteers.
The crew from Arbico helped Cindy, Director of Community Outreach at Coalition for Kids, and Dave, Maintenance Supervisor, catch up on some needed facilities maintenance. The volunteers painted furniture, cut donated ceiling tiles to size, landscaped, cleaned the building's awning in preparation for a painting project, and repaired external soffit, in addition to other projects.
"This was a great experience," said Anne Mann, who volunteered Saturday and is Senior Accountant at Arbico East, "and we got to learn more about Coalition for Kids and what a wonderful organization it is."
"You can tell the people at Coalition for Kids have a heart for the kids in our community," said Isaac Ratliff, Marketing Specialist at Arbico and an Arbico volunteer. "The opportunity to support them in their mission to help kids in need is something we all appreciated."

Kingsport, TN. (June 27, 2018) — In late June, Arbico East held its 2018 company picnic at Warrior's Path State Park. Despite some rainy weather, we had a great time of food, games, contests, and fellowship.
This year's picnic was Old West themed, and the games, contests, and festive decor certainly lived up to that theme. We had a cake walk, a Moon Pie eating contest, a restaurant "Wanted" poster contest, a chili cook-off, and sack and horse races.
One highlight of the day was the karaoke contest, which featured some entertaining contestants who happened to be talented singers. Another was the costume contest, in which contestants donned their best Old West garb.
Below are some contest winners and some pictures from the day. Thanks to everyone who came and took part in another Arby's family event!
Chili Cook-Off Winner: Kathy Evans
Thanks to Erica Leonard, Desiree Sawyer, and Phil Hughes for making some great chili as well.

Greeneville, TN. (July 9, 2018) — After losing their home and belongings in a fire, husband and wife Justin and Ashley Nelson relocated to Greeneville, TN, from Jefferson County, TN. The couple started working at the Arby’s in Greeneville in May of 2018, and soon afterwards they had saved enough money to lease a two-bedroom apartment in Greeneville.
"Both Ashley and Justin are model employees," said Nikki Taylor, GM at the Arby’s in Greeneville. “Since becoming employees with us, they have become a part of our family here in Greeneville,”
Being the tightknit group they are, the Greeneville crew wanted to do something special for Justin and Ashley, so they secretly began collecting furnishings for Justin and Ashley’s new apartment. The crew presented the furniture—and helped move the couple in—on the morning of July 9th, 2018 (picured above).
“Needless to say, it was a very emotional morning for us all,” said Nikki, adding how much she appreciated the Greeneville Arby’s team. “They are a fabulous crew with huge hearts, and I couldn’t be more proud of the way they take care of each other.”
